Chronology of events of William Robinson:

1. William Robinson born 1770 in Rutherford Co NC. Son of Thomas Robinson Sr.
2. Wm Robinson married Catharine Carrick, born NC, 7 Jan 1793 Rutherford Co NC. Her father was John Carrick.
3. Wm Robinson's sister Margaret Robinson married Thomas Price and they moved to White Co TN.
4. There is a William Robinson and John Carrick in early White Co TN.
5. William Marion Robinson born abt 1822 somewhere in TN. Says parents both born in NC.
6. Wm Robinson in White Co TN is not listed in any records in this county after 1812.
7. Jane Robinson appears in Jasper Co GA 1820 census as "head of family".
8. 1827 GA lottery has a drawing for "Robinson's, William orphans". William Robinson's orphans win land in new county of Carroll.
9. Carroll Co GA 1830 census lists Jane Robinson as "head of family".
10. Carroll Co GA 1840 census lists Jane Robinson as "head of family".
11. Carroll Co GA 1842 tax list has "William Robeson Agt (agent) for (military dist) 813 (land dist) 7 Jane Robeson 813 7.
12. Carroll Co GA 1850 census lists Jane Robinson living alone.
13. Carroll Co GA 1853 tax list has "Robinson William 813 7; Robinson John 813 7". Same property as 1842 tax list with brother John being added.

Problems with the above:

1. No paper trail between the Wm Robinson in Rutherford Co NC and Wm Marion Robinson, except yDNA. His yDNA is from this family.
2. A Jane Robinson is listed on the 1820 census of Jasper Co GA. Wm Marion says he was born in 1822 in TN. She can't be in two places at once.
3. Where did Jane Robinson come from? Most of NC Wm Robinson's family was in Jasper Co GA by 1810 while he was still in White Co TN.
4. To me, the evidence is good for Jane Robinson in Jasper Co GA being Wm Marion Robinson's mother.

1793 Know that I, THOMAS ROBINSON, for and in consideration of L25 to me paid by WILLIAM ROBINSON at or before the delivery, have bargained, sold and delivered 1 mare and colt, 1 cow, 1 bed and furniture forever. S/THOMAS ROBINSON. Witnessed by Thomas Price and Thomas Hawkins. Rutherford Co Wills and Misc Records Bk B, Pg 22, 13 Aug 1793.

1793 August: Deed Book M, Rutherford Co, NC, Pg 12, 13 Aug 1793 THOMAS ROBENSON [Robinson] of Rutherford Co NC, planter, to WILLIAM ROBINSON of same, L40, 110 acres on the east side of Second Broad River, containing the plantation where I now live, part of my original grant 16 Nov 1764. Wit: Thomas Price, Thomas Hawkins. recorded #1431, 8 May 1795 Rutherford Co NC.

1796 William Robertson of Rutherford Co NC to Thomas Hawkins of same, L170, 100A on the ES of Second Broad River, part of a tract granted to Thomas Robertson 16 Nov 1764, conveyed to William Robertson 17 [13] Aug 1793. Wit: A. Lewes [Abel Lewis], Alexander Cooper. Rutherford Co NC Deed Book O, Pg 36, 15 Jul 1794, #1612, 27 Jan 1796.

1800 Rutherford Co NC census lists one William Robinson but he's too old to be William, son of Thomas Robinson. William Robinson probably goes to TN.

10 Feb 1808 White Co TN: Court ordered that John M. Carrick act as Deputy Register and is sworn into office under Elijah Chisum Register of the County of White. Carrick becomes Clerk of the Court the following year.

1808 White Co TN: William Robertson Jury Pool.

12 May 1808 White Co TN: William Robertson vs: John Turner Debt.

14 Nov 1808 White Co TN: Ordered by Court that Joel Bradshaw and William Robertson be exonerated as securities for the appearance of Morris Black well and Priscilla his wife and is ordered accordingly.

14 Aug 1810 White Co TN: Commissioners of the Town of Sparta Lot No 4 to William Robinson.

16 Nov 1810 White Co TN: Acknowledged in open Court and ordered to be recorded. Let it be Registered William Robinson to Deed for 77 William Gist.

Nov 1810 White Co TN: William Robinson to Joseph Robinson Deed for 66A.

1810 White Co TN: This day came Jesse N. Thomas into open Court and took the oath to support the constitution of the United States of constable in and for the County of White and together with John M. Carrick and William Robinson entered into bond in the penalty of One Thousand Dollars conditioned as the law directs an the same is ordered accordingly.

Note: Wm Robinson Sr was still in White Co TN in 1810 although there is no census to prove that, but other documents do show him there. Sometime between 1810 and 1820 Wm Sr either dies in White Co TN or moves to Jasper Co GA. He does not show up in the Jasper Co GA 1820 census. We do see a son, named William, in the 1820 Jasper Co GA census who was born in White Co TN. The 1820 Jasper Co GA census is listed under Jane Robinson and not Wm Jr although he appears to be alive. By 1827 Wm Jr is dead.
